Sambalpur District Sports Association elections have been held peacefully
Sambalpur District Sports Association election was held today at the Tapaswini Theater. “It simply came to our notice then. Dulal Pradhan, the outgoing general secretary, and Mohammad Sabir Ahmed, the outgoing general secretary, have been elected vice-presidents in this election. Sunil Sahu, the general secretary, has won the election. Due to the covid there is delay in the election. Voting took place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The vice-presidential candidate Dulal Pradhan won by 7 votes and Mohammad Sabir Ahmed by 7 votes, while the nearest rival Vijay Pradhan won by 59 votes, Ganjit Mishra by 50 votes and Saroj Sahu by 36 votes. Birja Shankar Hota got 41 votes and 33 votes. Abinash Nand won the post of Cricket Editor with 52 votes, while his nearest rival Prabhanjan Bal 50 with Sambit Mohapatra got 4 and Soumya Darshan Mohanty got 24 votes. Umapati Tripathi won as treasurer, Rajesh Seth as sports editor, Abdul Gaffar as football editor and Binod Tosco as hockey editor.
The members of the council are Manoj Bhoi (195), Padmanai Naik (116), Bibhuti Bhushan Mishra (113), Subodh Kumar Sahu (108), Shantanu Kumar Nand (108), Laxmichandra Mahakur (108), Kundan Pradhan (4), Manoj Panda ( 4), Mohammad Isaac (6), Ratikanta Mohanty (6) have been elected. There were 22 candidates in the fray for the four key positions, while 14 stood as council members. Dr. Pramod Kumar Rath, President of the District Attorney’s Association, congratulated the newly elected representatives of the District Sports Association on the election, which was attended by nine members of the club, 36 members of the lifelong team and 17 members. Dr. Rath hopes that the candidates who won this year’s elections will accelerate the development of the heroic Surendra Sai sports field and strengthen the sports infrastructure across the district.
