Sambalpur: District Sports XI and Sambalpur Media XI friendly cricket match
Sambalpur: A friendly T20 cricket match has been held between Sambalpur District Sports Association (DAA) and Sambalpur Media XI (MEDIA-11). In this hotly contested match, Sunil Sahu-led DAA defeated Subrata Mishra-led Media by 4 runs. After losing the toss, the District Sports Association team batted first and scored 108 runs after losing 9 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. On behalf of the team, Dulal Chandra Pradhan scored 18 runs off 19 balls with 2 sixes. On behalf of Media, Malla Parida bowled brilliantly and took 5 wickets. He achieved this feat by scoring just 11 runs in 4 overs with a maiden.
In addition to this, Bhagyapati took 2 wickets, Badshah Jushman Rana and Satyajit Mohapatra took one wicket each. In response, the media team batted hard and scored 104 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. Jyotiranjan Nayak scored 17 runs from 18 balls with 3 fours, Jyotish Mohanty scored 14 runs, Gautam Mishra scored 11 runs and Saroj Sahu not out scored 11 runs. Laxmi Chandra Mahakud took 3 wickets, Kundan Pradhan, Abdul Gafar and Manoj Panda took 2 wickets each.
Maley Parida was awarded the best cricketer and Laxmi Chandra Mahakud was awarded the man of the match. Dr. Manoj Nand was the chief guest and senior journalist Shiv Nand was the guest of honor and presented trophies to the winning and runner-up teams. DAA Vice President Dulal Chandra presided over the program while Editor Sunil Sahu gave vote of thanks.
