Sambalpur: A dream of many years is going to be fulfilled. For years now, the people living in the various slums of the metropolis have been given land lease under the land mission. The first phase of land lease distribution will start from next April 1. The survey, which has been started for the past 4 months, is progressing at various stages. Till now, out of 143 settlements, survey report of 21 settlements has been given. The second meeting of Scrutiny Committee was held today. The meeting discussed the steps to be taken to implement the plan. The list of beneficiaries will be published in the settlement where the survey report is submitted. Similarly, the list will also be published in the Metropolitan Corporation office. It was decided in the meeting that people can submit their complaints within 7 days of publication of the list. Drone survey has been started for the past 4 months to implement Land Mission in Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation.

People living in 143 slums from Basti area in Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation have been involved in this scheme. While the survey work is going on, the survey report of 21 slums has been submitted till now. On last Friday, the survey report of 9 and 12 more slums have been submitted in the first phase. The second meeting of the Scrutiny Committee was held today. In the meeting, various issues related to distribution of land leases were discussed. A list of survey reports will be published in the concerned slums to make the survey report public. Within 7 days of the publication of the list, the public should file any complaint against any objection. It was decided in the meeting that after submitting the report of Tahsildar based on the complaint of objection, the work of giving land lease to the beneficiaries will be started.
Metropolitan Corporation Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Sahu informed that it is a complicated process. Till now, survey report of 21 out of 143 slums has been submitted. It has been decided to hold at least one meeting every week to address how the scheme will be managed. Mr. Sahu informed that it is planned to start the first phase from next April 1 after the list of survey report is published and the report of Tahsildar is received.
