Sambalpur: Two years ago, on the premises of Burla Hospital, An ambulance driver locked a patient, his wife and a 5-year-old son of Nuapada district inside the vehicle overnight, sparking a nationwide outcry.
The lives of Dageshwar Majhi and his family of Nuapada have not changed. Mr Majhi, who was rushed to Vimsar for treatment for tuberculosis of the spine, returned to Burla less than 10 days later for treatment. He was treated for a spinal cord injury and was unable to walk properly. However, despite being discharged on the 25th, the family did not have the money to return home. So the family lay on the verandah near the hospital emergency department for four days. At that time, they were assisted by Dr. Shankar Ramchandani’s number Mr. Majhi called him today. Dr. Ramchandani provided food for the family and rented a vehicle for Rs 3,250 from his one rupee clinic and sent it to his village. Notably, on May 3, 2020, an unfortunate incident took place with Mr. Majhi and his family, who had come to Burla for treatment. Unable to pay the full rent, Mr. Majhi, who was working as a laborer,the ambulance driver locked them in the ambulance at night at the car stand. Throughout the night, the young child, the patient, and his wife were locked in an ambulance, but were unable to urinate. Dr. Shankar Ramchandani lodged a complaint with the police and informed the Human Rights Commission. The incident was investigated by the Human Rights Commission. But the defendants are still out in the open. The poorest families in the country have not received any financial, legal or medical assistance.
