Sambalpur: “Educational approach to own language and culture is essential”, Second day of Sambalpur Book Fair
Samalpur: The ancient education system was only for upper-class people. Western culture and civilization were introduced into the education system under the Irish regime. The purpose of the current education system is important. The importance of the mother tongue in the personality development of the child and this context of the existing system in the national education system was discussed by Kamdev Sahu, Vice-Chancellor of Gangadhar Meher College. Going on to define the mother tongue, he said that language is inextricably linked with culture. So whatever the language of a child’s family, the culture of the environment in which he grows up determines his language. “Setu” president Dr. Minketan in the conference held in the chair, Dr. Bimal Panda was the guest of honor. Dr. Nirupma Badapanda, the former head of Dr. Parsuram Mishra Advanced Education Institute, gave an example from her own experience and said that while teaching the children of the tribal community, the teaching method should be based on their language and culture. Dr Pathi in his speech said that bilingual education should be provided everywhere and emphasized on making textbooks available in all languages included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. Sahitya Academy award-winning poet Saubhagyawant Maharana and prominent poet Pradeep Kumar Panda participated in the Saraswat program from 4 pm to 6 pm. On this occasion, Professor Akhil Mohan Biswal of the Department of Odia of the Government Women’s College presided over the event.
