Sambalpur: Efficacy of ‘Covishield’ Proved, Trial conducted on 132 nursing staff at Vimsar
Helps in controlling viral proliferation and increasing antibody levels
Burla: A 7-member medical team at Burla Vimsar has conducted research on the real immunity power of ‘CoviShield’, the vaccine that immunized billions of people in the country during the Covid epidemic, and got very positive results.
The team examined 132 healthcare nursing staff (male/female) who were considered frontline fighters during the COVID-19 pandemic. Most of them were women, with an average age of 35 years. 132 received a booster dose at least 6 months after the second dose. Their antibody levels were measured before and after the booster dose. Results showed an average increase of 30% in antibody levels after the booster dose. The study found that among the 132 who had a longer interval between the second dose and the booster dose, the antibody levels were higher.
Surprisingly, 38 of them had very low antibody levels before the booster dose which indicated the need for booster doses at regular intervals. However, after taking a booster dose, the condition improved rapidly. The results have proven that the effect of Covid-19 is crucial for any new wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. The medical team concluded that the booster dose of CoviShield helps in increasing the antibody level of the body and also helps in controlling the spread of the virus. Associate Professor Subrata Pradhan of the Community Medicine Department, Assistant Professor Sanjiv Mishra, Dr. Trupti Meher, Dr. Aishwarya Panda, Associate Professor of Pediatrics Subhas Majhi, and Dr. Smruti Munda included. The said report was reviewed on September 26 and made public on October 2.
