Sambalpur: “Egg – Brinjal” were first grown in the garden of Sanjukta Meher’s Durgapali House
Sambalpur: When you say ‘eggs and brinjals’, you will surely think that eggs and brinjals are a dish to eat. People are also cooking eggs and brinjals by putting eggs in them. However, the ‘egg brinjal’ that is being talked about here is as beautiful to look at as it is delicious to eat. So it is not cooked in oil but grown on the plant. These Egg-Brinjals were first grown in Durgapali house of Sanjukta Meher. She took care of the plant when it grew in the pot of her garden.
There were 2 Egg-Brinjals that looked like unripe eggs. She gave one of the plant to her Dhanupali friend Kalpana Mishra and kept one for herself. Both have multiple plant grown this year in their garden. 5 to 8 Egg-Brinjals are produced per tree. It tastes like brinjals but its egg like shaped become the center of attraction. Both said that they will sow new crops this year as well. “After planting these brinjals, the beauty of the garden is growing more,” said Sanjukta.
