Sambalpur: Fake Saints terror in Khetrajpur, looting gold jewellery
Sambalpur: Fake saints (ଭଣ୍ଡବାବା) terror in Khetrajpur area. Showing the temptation to solve women’s problems, some people are being hypnotized in agarbati incense and others are being robbed with camphor incense on the street.
Two days ago, this Fake saints gang robbed a woman of gold jewellery near the railway line under Khetrajpur police station. However, yesterday, in a similar fashion, this gang again robbed the woman of 2 gold conch shells, a gold necklace and a gold ring from the edge of the ring road and escaped. On this allegation, the Khetrajpur police have registered a case and started investigating the incident.
According to the complaint, Promodini Jalan (67) of Samalswari Residence under Khetrajpur police station went out for a morning walk yesterday at around 8 am. At this time, 2 unknown people dressed as saints reached her near Dhobapada Ghat on Ring Road. He also asked for camphor and agarbati for the puja. But since they were not available to Mrs. Jalan, she gave Rs. 5. After some time, the two fake saints again reached infront of Shrimati Jalan with agarbati The two fake saints said that they would solve all her problems by burning incense in front of her. After some time, the two fake saints asked the woman to remove all the jewellery from her body. Ms. Jalan also took off the 2 gold bangles, one gold necklace and one gold ring that she was wearing and held them in their hands. After this incident, the two fake saints took the gold jewellery and ran away from the scene. Later, Mrs. Jalan found out that she was a victim of fraud and filed a complaint at the police station.
Notably, in the same way some days before, 2 Fake saints burnt a camphor in front of a woman saying that they would solve all the problems and loot all the gold jewellery from her.
