Sambalpur: First flood water of this year will be discharged from Hirakud Reservoir on the 23rd; Water level in Mahanadi & branch rivers will increase
Sambalpur: The water level in the upper reaches of Hirakud reservoir is continuously increasing due to rain. In view of this, the flood water will be released for the first time on the 23rd of this month. Sushil Behera, Additional Chief Engineer of Hirakud Head Works and Additional Spillway in Burla said that the flood water will be drained at 9 am.
Mr. Behera said, “The water level in Mahanadi and its tributaries will increase as a result of draining water from Hirakud Reservoir.” Therefore, the public should take precautions for entering the river and other uses. At this time, the administration has warned not to enter the river to avoid any accidents.
According to reports, 1,40,048 cusecs of water per second were entering the Hirakud reservoir today at 12:00 noon. At this time, 39,753 cusecs of water per second were being released from the reservoir. 36,544 through power channels, 2925 cusecs for agriculture. 2375 cusecs for BMC, 500 cusecs for SMC, 50 cusecs for Sambalpur, and 274 cusecs for industries are continuing.
