Sambalpur: Food Safety Department Raids 70 Places After Diarrhea Outbreak, 40 Found Unhygienic
Sambalpur: There was a diarrhea outbreak in the Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation (SMC) area. According to the health department, contaminated food and drinking water caused this outbreak. After this, the Food Safety Department conducted raids in the SMC area. Last week, they checked food quality in the Hirakud area, and on Tuesday, they raided various places in Sambalpur.
The State Food Safety Directorate and the Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation’s Food Safety Department inspected 70 food businesses, school canteens, and hotels for cleanliness ratings. Out of these 70 places, only 30 were found eligible for the cleanliness rating certificate. The remaining 40 food establishments that didn’t qualify were warned.
The authorities have said that these raids will continue as they aim to crack down on unhygienic food establishments.
