Sambalpur: Food Safety Officer’s visit to Burla, Destroys Low-quality food items
Burla: Food security officials raided down on the sale of substandard food in Burla town. In this, it was ordered to check the quality of food products made in various breakfast shops and hotels in VSSUT Chowk, Kirba Chowk, Medical Street, Bus Stand, and Planetarium Street, and not to add any kind of artificial coloring to food products. Food products were stored in unsanitary environments and in freezers for long periods of time. The food safety department has destroyed many unwholesome foods, artificial cooking oil, etc in many shops in the city.
Shopkeepers who do not have a food license are advised to apply for a license as soon as possible. Sandeep Saurabh, Food Safety Officer of Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation Zone 1 along with reserve police personnel were present in this drive. The inspection was conducted by the SMC mainly because of the complaints made by the students that low-quality food was prepared in the breakfast shops and hotels on the university premises. Mr. Saurabh said that such inspections will be done in the city at regular intervals.
