Sambalpur: Forest Department changes the name of Deer Park to “Sambalpur Zoo” to Attract Tourists
Sambalpur: Deer Park in Motijharan has been renamed. Earlier it was named as ‘Deer Park and Wildlife Conservation Centre’, but now the State Government’s Forest Department has named it as ‘Sambalpur Zoo and Rescue Centre’. It was established in 1980. While it is in 13 hectares area, last year a botanical garden has been opened in 4 hectares area. More than 6000 trees of different species have been planted there.
It has been informed that its name has been changed to attract tourists. It has 27 enclosures and 333 animals of 15 species. There are 123 deer and 41 sambars while there are leopards, bears, deer, pythons, peacocks etc. A cafeteria, drinking water, toilets, and parking facilities have been provided here to attract tourists.
