Sambalpur: Foundation Day of the Citizens’ Coordinating Committee
Today marks the one-year anniversary of the Civil Coordinating Committee comprising Govindtola, Bhatara, Dhanupali and Putibandha at the local Aditya Kalyan mandap patha. The meeting, chaired by Rajendra Panda, president of the organization, was attended by Dr. Bishwanath Mishra as the chief guest and Dhanupali police officer Anita Pradhan as the guest of honor. In his speech, Chief Guest Dr. Mishra discussed the unresolved issues in the Dhanupali area and called on the youth to take the initiative. Later in the day, members of the House of Representatives presented their regional issues.
Members raised issues such as forcible removal of dams, canals and roads, prevention of chimney contamination of paddy mills in Bhatara, application of efficient drainage systems during the construction of canals, modernization of Dhanupali intersection as well as construction of drinking water and toilets. The meeting condemned the Tata Power’s use of electricity in the name of charging customers and disrespecting them. As before, it was proposed to pay the arrears through installments. It was decided to bring the matter to the attention of the authorities immediately. It was decided to give the peace idea where necessary.
Finally, President Panda informed the members of the steps taken in this direction and passed a resolution calling on the district commissioner to once again make all preparations for the agitation. Vice President Damodar Kar delivered the welcome address. Editor Tapan Guru and Treasurer Shwetakumar Panda presented the organization’s annual report and budget, respectively. Kapilendra Sahu and Sudhir Das were the keynote speakers. Finally Vijayalakshmi Behera offered his thanks.
