Sambalpur: From YouTube to Terror; ITI Student’s Revenge Bombing Attempt at Peerbaba Chowk, Identified as Culprit (Raid Footage)

Sambalpur: The explosion attack on Peerbaba Chowk in Sambalpur has shaken the community, drawing comparisons with the deadly Patnagarh parcel blast. This time, the motive appears to be revenge for an altercation involving Abhilash’s father, Dilip, who was allegedly beaten by Sushil Paik. Abhilash Mishra (19), a second-year ITI student, held a strong desire for vengeance, drawing inspiration from online crime stories on platforms such as YouTube. According to reports, he learned Punjilal-style bomb-making procedures through these networks.

Determined to ensnare Sushil, Abhilash methodically crafted a bomb and wrote ‘Sambalpur Mafia Gang’, above it trying to accuse Sushil because of his supposed involvement with the same-named Instagram page. However, the plot failed when the bomb burst prematurely while being handled, injuring three people and generating widespread panic across the city.

According to the source, he threw the bomb parcel down from the top of the flyover. It wasn’t cracked. The individual who discovered it initially photographed the Sambalpur mafia gang label attached to it after placing it on a bullet. Later, while trying to unlock it with a bike key, it exploded.

In response to the incident, law enforcement swiftly moved to seal off affected areas and deploy additional forces to maintain public safety. Abhilash’s background as a technically proficient individual, adept at repairing mechanical equipment, sheds light on how easily he acquired bomb-making knowledge through online resources.

Furthermore, the Instagram page ‘Sambalpur Mafia Gang’ has come under examination, raising issues regarding its legality under the IT Act. Despite having no direct involvement in the bombing, police may take action against the page’s administrator due to their probable association with criminal elements. However, the extent of their guilt in the incident will be determined through further investigation.
