Sambalpur: Funeral & cremation of helpless women by Sambal NGO members
Sambalpur: Bhavani Bariha, a native of the Kuchinda area, was living in the local slum with his wife and two sons. He supported his family by working as a day laborer. Bhavani passed away on March 16 due to his illness. After 3 months his wife Uma Bariha (43) also passed away on Monday. She fell ill suddenly and was referred to Burla where the doctor pronounced her dead. Duryodhan (20) and Minu (17), who lost their father three monthsa ago, were unable to cremate their mother’s body. They were unable to contact the relatives. As a result, they got in touch with the Sambal NGO and after getting the news, Ramdas Panda, Kalia Bagh brought the dead body to Swarga Ratha and assisted in cremation at Rajghat. Duryodhan, the eldest son, gave the fire to the body.
