Sambalpur: Generous Gesture; Labangalata from GM College Road Donates Her Body for Medical Research
Sambalpur: Labangalata Pati (82), a resident of GM College Road, fulfilled her good promise yesterday when she donated her body to the anatomy department of Burla Vimsar. Following the selfless example of her husband, who had previously made similar generous decisions, Labangalata’s selfless act will help medical research and education in Vimsar.
The decision to donate her body was taken by Labangalata on September 7, 2014, with the hope that her body would contribute to the studies of medical students in Vimsar and made a legal will for it. This act of kindness was done in the presence of her three daughters: Gitarani Nayak, Mamata Nayak, and Jitarani Mishra. Members including Prashant Pattjoshi, Rajnikant Nag, Prabananda Dani, and Praveen Dixit were also present at the dedication ceremony.
Labangalata’s legacy of generosity in the field of medical science will positively impact the lives of others, ensuring that even in death she continues to make a significant contribution to the lives of others.
