Sambalpur: Google Search for hotel booking; lakhs of rupees debited from account
Sambalpur: Be careful while booking online if you want to go out for sightseeing. Otherwise, your account will be empty instead of sightseeing. Cyber fraud is now going on in a hotel booking. According to reports, Abhishek Tulsia of Badabazar had planned to go to Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh with his family to visit the temple. He searched on Google to book a hotel to stay there. He found a mobile number and contacted the caller. The person introduced himself as the manager of the hotel and asked for an advance payment for the hotel booking. Abhishek paid 12 hundred rupees through phone pay for room booking on September 1st. Then the manager of the hotel sent a booking ID on WhatsApp and asked to confirm the booking by typing that ID in Phone Pay. How to do it was explained on the phone. According to him, Abhishek did everything. Within a short period of time, his wife’s account started deducting money. 1 lakh 8 thousand 848 rupees were debited in multiple 5 transactions. Abhishek was saddened and asked to return the money. She told him to do what he had to do, saying that he would not return any money. After falling victim to the scam, Abhishek approached the Sambalpur SP and lodged a written complaint at the khetrajpur police station on Thursday. The police have registered a case and started investigating the incident.
