Sambalpur: Government silence on lawyer protest incident growing Dissatisfaction among people
When did the Situation Became Normal?
Sambalpur: Not half a day, it has been 15 days since Sambalpur courts have been created situation and no progress can be made in any court whether it is judicial department or revenue court. Nothing is happening except office work. On the other hand, an atmosphere of fear has been created by seeing the action of the police, and the dissatisfaction is increasing in the minds of the people. In such a situation, even the surprising silence of the state government is not easily accepted by the people. The Sambalpur Citizens’ Action Committee also disapproved of the Supreme Court’s decision on the 12th December agitation and vandalism in the court. However, the police have shown great confidence in this incident
So far, 39 people are in jail along with 30 lawyers. However, the most important thing is that since that day, normalcy has not returned. Judges are going to court, but nothing special can be done, except for 54 people, the suspension of others has been revoked, but the lawyers have not joined the court work. At this time, Section 144 is still in force. Seeing this situation, even if there is work, people are expressing their desire to go to Kacheri area. Those who are going, they are returning frustrated because the court is not working. People interpret silence in different ways. On the one hand, even after the Union Law Minister’s letter regarding the appointment of the High Court bench, the state government did not send proposals to the Center for infrastructure and other matters, and after the incident of the last 12th, people are dissatisfied with the fact that they are not paying attention to the interests of the public.
On the contrary, lawyers from different districts are regularly visiting Sambalpur to boost the morale of Sambalpur Bar Association. Today, lawyers from some other districts including Rourkela, Sundergarh came to Sambalpur and met the members here. On the other hand, President Ashok Das and Co-President Pramod Das of Central Action Committee of Western Odisha Bar Association today went to Sambalpur Jail and discussed with the senior members of Bar Association. All the problems could have been solved soon if the government made a little effort. However, Mr. Dash said that in the CAC meeting to be held in the near future, the situation of Sambalpur will be discussed and some steps will be taken with the consensus of all.
