Sambalpur: GST Raid in Chirag Sales, Tax evasion allegation of lakhs of rupees
Sambalpur: Due to many allegations of CT & GST tax evasion in the state, the GST department on Thursday raided the residences of the owners of Hardware, Sanitary, Plywood, and glue wholesale businesses of Chirag Sales in Sambalpur.
While the raiding campaign is going on across the state, raids were conducted today as there were already complaints against this commercial establishment shop in Sambalpur. In this regard, the department said that there were allegations of tax evasion by this institution and it was on the department’s radar. Therefore, under the leadership of Tekchand Meher and Assistant Public Prosecutor Subhrajit Das, who was appointed by the Sambalpur City and GST Department, raids were conducted simultaneously on the commercial establishments located on Mudipada Farm Road, the commercial establishments located on Godbhaga and the residences located in Khetrajpur. A total of 26 people including 17 CT and GST employees, police employees were involved in this raid.
This campaign started at around 11 am and continued till around 6 pm. During the search, the trader’s computer, stock of sales papers etc. were taken into custody for inspection, the trader has been given a notice to submit his purchase related papers within the next 4 days for inspection. If the trader submits the documents related to the purchase, it will be known whether he has paid tax or not as per the law. If there is any kind of irregularity in paying the tax, fines will be charged along with the tax, said the department’s superintendent of the department. The shop owner has cooperated with the department and said that all the documents have been kept while the estimated tax of Rs 1,00,000. Therefore, in the coming days, after the businessmen submit all the tax-related papers in front of the department, all the data will be collected and checked and the real facts will be known. On the contrary, within the last one year, the GST department has charged more than one crore rupees in taxes and fines from 17 cases.
