Sambalpur: Health care in Hirakud is in a disorder situation, There are 3 doctors instead of 11
Hirakud: Hirakud is the city of art and tourism. The population here has reached 50 thousand. What is surprising is that the residents here do not get basic services like healthcare. The condition of Hirakud Hospital is getting worse day by day. In the morning, 2 female doctors came to the hospital and left after 1 pm. At other times, patients are facing a lot of problems. Since Hirakud Hospital is an Urban CHC, there should be around 11 doctors as per the rules. But while there are two doctors here, another doctor has joined a few days ago. In this way, Hirakud Hospital is running on the hope of three doctors. One of them is a dentist while the other is a retired doctor. The biggest thing is that there are no doctors here at night.
Many times the number of pharmacists is less than the sanctioned posts while hospitals are run based on pharmacists. When the post of doctor is vacant here, there is no related system for various examinations. The treatment is being done on outdated equipment. Blood tests are still not available to patients. Many times patients are forced to go to Sambalpur District Head Hospital, Burla Vimsar for the necessary treatment. Hirakud Hospital remains only a referral hospital in the middle of the situation. Even though there has been agitation at various times regarding the condition of the hospital, no solution has come out. In this context, asking CDMO Dr. Purnachandra Sahu to fill up the post of doctor, he said that the higher authorities have been informed about this.
