Sambalpur: Hiking Program Held at Debrigarh Sanctuary Draws Participants from Across India

Sambalpur: A hiking program was recently organized at Debrigarh Sanctuary, attracting 22 participants from various parts of India. Led by the DFO of Debrigarh Wildlife, Anshuprangya Das, the three-day, two-night hike concluded on Thursday.

Hikers from states including Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Odisha, Karnataka, Chandigarh, Jharkhand, and Delhi enjoyed exploring the natural beauty of Debrigarh Sanctuary’s valleys, hills, mountains, grasslands, and islands.

The hike commenced with a climb to 500 meters above sea level on the first day, where participants spent the night at Ranibasa. On the second day, they ventured to Badudi Island within the Hirakud Reservoir, before spending the second night at a temporary camp on ‘Cattle Island.’

Organized by Debrigarh Sanctuary in collaboration with India Hikes, the country’s largest trekking organization, the program featured two expert guides. Participants immersed themselves in nature, connecting with trees and the environment during the hike, which was part of the nature education initiative by Hirakud Wildlife Division.
