Sambalpur: “Hirakud Mahotsav” started on Friday, Odissi and Bharatanatyam Dance Performance attracted the audiences attention
Hirakud: The first national level hirakud festival has started on Friday at Jawahar Udyan in the Hirakud area. The fusion of Indian culture made Friday evenings even more enjoyable. The festival held at Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department was inaugurated by Higher Education Minister Rohit Pujari as the Chief Guest, Uttaranchal Revenue Commissioner Suresh Chandra Dalai, District Council Secretary Kumudini Naik, Sambalpur District Collector Ananya Das, SP B. Gangadhar, Odisha Music Drama Academy Secretary Prabodh Rath, SMC Commissioner Pradeep Sahu, Padmashri Aruna Mohanty and Padmashri Jitendra Haripal inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp.

On the first evening, Shamila Biswas Group from Kolkata performed an Odissi dance that was appreciated by the people. Chennai Rama Vaidyanathan Group’s Bharatanatyam Dance captivated the crowd. Then Ranjan Sahu Group Sambalpuri Folk Dance and Music of Sambalpur, Anup Ranjan Pandey’s Group Folk Dance of New Delhi. A huge crowd of people was seen to watch the festival where Sukant’s Group folk dance was performed. When Jawahar Udyan was decorated with colorful lights, a kind of competition started among the people to take pictures. The first day of this festival, held for the first time in Hirakud, has seen a lot of interest among the people. The festival will continue till Sunday.
