Sambalpur: ICU Services will be available and operational by the end of august in DHH sambalpur
Sambalpur: Patients will no longer has to go to Burla Vimsar for ICU. This service will be available in Sambalpur this time. Whether it’s a critical care patient with an accident or an obstetric emergency. ICU services will be provided to all. By the end of August, it will be operational at District Headquarter Hospital. A 5-bed ICU will be opened in the first phase. For this, doctors and nurses will be trained for 3 months starting from this month. Sambalpur Chief District Medical Officer Dr. Purna Chandra Sahu informed.

12 ICU beds were added to Sambalpur DHH during Covid. There were 12 ventilators and other items. It’s been over a year now and the covid is over. So the ICU unit was closed. Doctors, nurses and other staff cannot even open it as they are not trained. So now all the ICU beds in DHH are eating manure. DHH authorities are aware after the repeated news published. One more letter will be written to the state government to train the staff immediately. So the ICU unit will be opened very soon, CDMO said.
5 beds will be started in the first phase. After this we will try to run 12 ICUs. At least 8 doctors, 45 nurses and other staff are required to run 10 ICUs. So the plan is to gradually increase the number. Emphasis will be given to Department of Medicine and Obstetrics. SNCU will also be opened for children. More focus will be given to PICU and NICU. In addition, CDMO informed that ICU will be opened for other departments as well.
