Sambalpur: IIM Sambalpur organized a five-day “Threads to Tradition District Handicraft Exhibition 2023” at its campus. The exhibition was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, and Weaving Service Center, Bhubaneswar. Professor Mahadev Jaiswal, Director, IIM Sambalpur, joined as the chief guest and said that the main objective of this exhibition is to Strengthen “Vocal for Local Thought” by Disseminating Handloom and Khadi Products. Mr. Jaiswal said that IIM Sambalpur will continue to support and empower local weavers and indigenous handicrafts by digitally disseminating them across the country and developing a national market for weavers. Vikas Kumar said the weavers can avail the benefits of various handloom schemes in this program. The collaboration between IIM Sambalpur and the department will make a significant contribution to the expansion and growth of the handloom sector.
More than 25 stalls showcase a wide variety of handicrafts in this exhibition. As per the MOU signed with Flipkart and Sidbi, IIM Sambalpur is promoting consumer products in the digital market. It has been informed that innovation and innovative ideas will be highlighted.
