Sambalpur: IIM will work to increase the capacity building of weavers, farmers, and public representatives: Union Minister
Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan visited the IIM Sambalpur campus and planted trees
Sambalpur: Union Minister for Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday visited the IIM Sambalpur campus and planted trees with the students on the premises of the educational institution in line with the ‘Mission Life’ call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to protect the global environment.
The Union Minister said that IIM Sambalpur is going to start new programs to tap the immense potential of the local area. The institute plans to increase the capacity building of farmers to improve the skills of weavers in Sambalpur district and boost the rural-based economy.
In addition, it is recommended to increase the capacity building of local elected representatives and Sarpanch, district council members, municipal councilors, and chairpersons, that is, local administration. State-of-the-art educational institutes like IIMs have been established in areas like Sambalpur at a cost of Rs 400 crores due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision. 600 students will study in two batches and 30 lecturers and other staff have been appointed for this purpose. This educational institution, laid foundation by the Prime Minister, will soon be inaugurated by the Prime Minister. He said Sambalpur is the cultural center of Odisha. Mother Samlei is present here. The area has Hirakud Dam, Sambalpur University, Veer Surendra Sai Medical College, Burla Engineering College, and Gangadhar Meher University Institute. The establishment of the IIM will turn the region into an intellectual hub. Soon an incubation center will be set up here to nurture the local youth.
Talking about tree plantation, Shri Pradhan said that the Prime Minister has called Mission Life to protect the global environment. A tree plantation program was organized by IIM on the call of the Prime Minister. The tree plantation program was attended by the students, faculty, staff, and local citizens of the local area including Sainik School, Navodaya Vidyalaya and Adarsh Vidyalaya. On this occasion, Shri Pradhan also discussed with the director and staff of IIM Sambalpur about the curriculum. The students were asked about the facility problems related to the IMS campus. Toured the campus and toured the digital classroom. The Union Minister also interacted with the workers engaged in the construction work.
