Sambalpur: In 24 hours, 18 districts are threatened with heavy rains; Meteorological Department has issued a yellow warning to all these districts.
Sambalpur: The Monsoon circulation is weak over the state as the Monsoon low pressure line moved north of its normal position today (Friday) and it exited Amritsar, Punjab, it stretches from Balurghat in West Bengal through Chandigarh, Baharich, Muzaffarpur to Manipur in the east. As a result of this, the regional center of the Indian Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar has issued a warning that there is a possibility of heavy rain and lightning in various districts of the state for the next 3 days. According to the warning, in the next 24 hours i.e. 12 August, Saturday afternoon, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh will be affected. There is a possibility of heavy rain and lightning in 18 districts of Coast and West Odisha. In view of this, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow warning to all these districts. On the other hand, the sky is partly cloudy in the Twin City Cuttack and its adjacent areas including Bhubaneswar from today (Friday) morning. However, there is a possibility of thundershowers and moderate rains in the Twin City area during the afternoon to late evening, said the regional center in Bhubaneswar.
In the last 24 hours, monsoon has been weak in the state and an average rainfall of 1.9 mm has been recorded which is 80% less than the normal rainfall of 9.8 mm.
