Sambalpur: Incident of Murder after Molestation of a Minor, Life Sentence for the guilty
Sambalpur: In 2015, a minor girl (16) was killed in the Rengali police station area of Sambalpur district after molestation. In this case, the accused has been convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. According to the information, on 27th February 2015, 2 minors from the Rengali police station area were returning home after working from a brick kiln. Bhishma Ranvida (30) in the afternoon misbehaved with 2 minors. A minor escaped while Bhishma repeatedly molested another minor. Fearing to be caught, the minor was strangled to death. The girl, who managed to escape, called the villagers and brought them to the spot. When the girl was taken to the hospital, the doctor declared her dead. After the girl’s father filed a complaint at the Rengali police station, the police registered a case and started an investigation into the incident. After recording the statements of 25 witnesses, a special POCSO court judge on Monday convicted Bhishma and sentenced him to life imprisonment. Along with that, he has imposed a fine of 1 lakh rupees. In case of non-payment of the fine, an additional 1 year imprisonment was ordered. Public Prosecutor Satya Kumar Panda handled the case.
