Sambalpur: Intense Battle in Sambalpur Assembly; BJP, BJD, and Congress Clash Amid ‘Scissors Effect’ Impact on Victory
Sambalpur: Similar to the Sambalpur Lok Sabha constituency, the Sambalpur Assembly seat has also witnessed intense competition this time. The BJP once again fielded the current Leader, Jayanarayan Mishra, while the BJD nominated Redhakhol MLA Rohit Pujari. Winning this election is a matter of honor for both leaders. The Congress candidate, Durga Padhi, who is known for his social service in the area, also left no stone unturned to challenge these two leaders. It will be clear on June 4 who the people of Sambalpur have chosen as their representative in the Assembly, but now both BJP and BJD are facing a similar problem. It is being discussed in political circles that the ‘Scissors Effect’ will play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the losing candidates in this election.
Both BJP and BJD candidates faced opposition from within their respective parties in this election. Some leaders/workers were supporting the Lok Sabha candidates while opposing the Assembly candidates. They were working with the hope that they would get another chance if the assembly candidate was defeated. In other words, there is a general discussion about people who are indirectly persuading their own party’s Lok Sabha candidate to vote for another party’s assembly candidate. However, it is said that their policy of ‘Scissors Running’ (undermining their own party) has backfired. Due to this, the performance of both Lok Sabha and Assembly candidates is being closely scrutinized in political circles.
If Jayanarayan Mishra wins this election despite the ‘Scissors Effect,’ he will create a rare record of winning 5 elections. On the other hand, if Rohit Pujari wins, he will also record 3 consecutive wins and a hat-trick. And, if the Congress candidate Durga Padhi wins surprisingly amidst the intense competition between these two, then he too will succeed in stepping foot in the Legislative Assembly for the first time, and after 25 years, the Congress will record its return to power in its former stronghold. However, it will be clear on June 4.
