Sambalpur: Kunchinda Teacher Brutal Murder Case: Suspect Youth Attempt Suicide in Police Station
Kuchinda: An unfortunate incident took place in Kuchinda police station of Sambalpur district on Sunday. Sudhanshu Kusum, a young man detained in the police station on suspicion of murdering Prithviraj Mahanand, a teacher of Mantrimunda School under this police station, attempted suicide by cut his throat by knife. He was rescued in critical condition and admitted to Burla Vimsar.
According to information, Prithviraj, a native of Kuchulapali village in Mahulpali police station, was living in a house built on government land in Ward No. 7 of Kuchinda. He used to teach in the nearby Mantrimunda village school. On the 4th of last Friday afternoon, he left home and did not return. His body was found near Kharla Bypass Bridge on Saturday morning with a pool of blood. Kuchinda Police registered a case in this regard and started investigation. The police seized the teacher’s mobile phone from the scene. Some of the youth who had a conversation with the teacher were taken to the police station and interrogated. Among them, Sudhanshu Kusum (30) of Jadapali village was brought to the police for questioning.
At 3 pm on Sunday, Sudhanshu went to the police station bathroom asking to go to toilet. He tried to commit suicide by breaking the glass of the skylight inside the bathroom. As he did not come out of the bathroom, the conservator in charge went to the bathroom. Seeing him lying in a pool of blood, he immediately informed the police. Sudhanshu was immediately rushed to the Kuchinda sub-district hospital in a bleeding condition. As the condition became alarming, he was shifted to Burla Vimsar. On the contrary, due to the negligence of the police personnel, this has happened today in the police station premises.
