Sambalpur: Land sale money scandal; Son killed father
Bamra: Fighting between father and son over land sale money. Even the bloodthirsty son beats father with sticks, bricks and iron rods and the father died at the scene . The killings took place on Thursday afternoon in Shargidihi village of Gobindpur police station. Police arrived at the scene and began a preliminary investigation, detaining the boy.
According to information received, Mohan Patra, 50, of Shargidihi Mandapapada village in Bamshalga panchayat, Bamra block, had sold only 11 deciles of land in his area a few days back and kept money with him. Mohan’s only son, Karan Patra, 19, was working as a painter in Cuttack. He returned home in 3-4 days back. Meanwhile, he had been drinking all the time and asking his father Mohan for money to sell the land. There was a scuffle between the two, father and son over this.
At around 3pm on Thursday, a similar altercation broke out between the two men. After that, Karan suddenly started beating his father Mohan and mother Tritiya. Later the riots intensified and he chased after them, attempting to kill her in life. While her mother was able to run away, Karan grabbed his father Mohan and beat him mercilessly.
Karan, the bloodthirsty son, attacked his father with bricks, sticks and ironrod. Mohan Patra died at the scene. On hearing the news, Gobindpur police officer Ajay Kumar Jena, sub-inspector Gopinath Mahakur, ASI Manoj Kumar Nayak arrived and conducted a preliminary investigation. The body was taken to Gobindpur Hospital for autopsy. The accused’s son, Karan, was reportedly detained and questioned by police. It has been revealed that since the incident, Mohan’s elderly mother has been in a state of panic since the incident.
