Sambalpur: Life Sentence for Main Accused in Murder Case

Sambalpur: Raat Mangal Meher was murdered at Dhanupali Greenpark Apartments in Sambalpur. After hearing the case of this murder, District Judge Pradyumna Naik sentenced the main accused, Biju alias Abhishek Tanti, to life in prison and acquitted his three accomplices.

According to the information, Biju alias Abhishek Tanti stabbed Mangal on June 10, 2015, at 10:20 am for stealing the water pump. Raat Mangal died in the hospital while undergoing treatment. The police accused Biju of having 3 more accomplices in the murder. Police registered Case No. 173/2015 and arrested 4 people and proceeded to court. After hearing the case on Tuesday, the District Circuit Judge sentenced the main accused Biju to life imprisonment. Along with that, a fine of 10,000 has been imposed. In case of non-payment of fine, further imprisonment of 6 months has been ordered. On the other hand, 3 accomplices were acquitted due to lack of evidence.
