Sambalpur: Mamata’s family in front of the District Collector’s office with all the belongings evicted during Samlei Scheme
“We will commit suicide if we don’t settle down“
Sambalpur: After collecting all the belongings including house utensils, clothes, bed, wardrobe, bicycle, Mamata Patra arrived in front of the District Collector’s office at around 12:00 on Sunday. Along with her husband and 3 year old child. She kept her bed under the flyover in front of the district magistrate’s office gate and started crying. Tears were not dry from Mamata’s eyes. After being evicted by the landlord for not being able to pay the rent, Mamata went to the District Collector’s door with her belongings and family because none other than the administration had cheated her.
Mamata’s family is now in trouble after her house was demolished for Samlei scheme. This family living in ghungutipada has not received any money as compensation. Mamata has warned that she will commit suicide with her family if her words are not considered. The eviction process has already started in the Samlei scheme. Many have already been settled. But due to the careless work of the administrative officials, this family has now facing problems. Unable to tolerate, her husband and young children are now sitting in front of the Sambalpur District Collector’s office holding their belongings. According to Mamata, Samlei scheme plan has demolished the house. Government officials promised that compensation would be paid during the eviction. But they did not give anything. Mamata is crying saying that we repeatedly came to the district magistrate for relief, but was not even allowed to meet him.
Days are passed went on saying that compensation would be given. The owner threw them out of the house because they could not able to pay the rent. As there was no alternative to stay, they were sitting in front of the District Collector’s office with all their belongings in despair. She and her husband demanded immediate justice. On the contrary, it is known that the police went and tried to pick up this family from there in the evening.
