Sambalpur: Milk corruption in Omfed, 6660 kg of Milk Loot
Sambalpur: A large-scale irregularity has come to light in the Sambalpur diary under OMFD. In two months, 6660 kg of milk worth lakhs of rupees has been looted after complaints were received from dairy farmers.
As per information, milk is collected and supplied to OMFED through various milk producer cooperatives under the Samleshwari Milk Producers Union (SAMUL). The milk collected from the cooperative members comes to Sambalpur Dairy near Goshala through the nearby milk cooling center. Barpali Milk Cooling Center (BMG) under Sambalpur has brought allegations of milk manipulation through an unprovoked attack on Sambalpur Dairy last August and September. After the tank loaded with milk reaches the Sambalpur dairy, it is weighed on the weighing machine. After the milk is emptied, the tank is weighed again and the actual weight of the tank and milk is determined. However, the farmers alleged that the weight of the tanker (OR15C-4293) from Barpali BMTH was shown to be 500 to 700 kg less than the actual weight of the tank and on the contrary, the weight of the tank was increased.
According to the complaint, 800 kg on August 16, 30kg on 20, 200kg on 21, 550kg on 22, 470kg on 25, 170kg on 27, 630kg on 29 are shown to be more milk than reality. Similarly, on September 1st, 710 kg, 550kg on 3rd, 590kg on 5th, 700kg on 6th and 630 kg on 11th were shown and money was extorted. The dairy farmers have jointly complained in writing to the Managing Director and Departmental Secretary of OMFED that the employees of OMFED are supplying low-quality milk to the market to keep accounts of milk collection and sale of dairies. Due to this, the demand of omfed milk is decreasing day by day in the market. Along with this, the sales of omfed shops and milk products are also decreasing. On the contrary, due to this, the members of the cooperatives associated with other BMMs are also suffering indirectly. Money is being looted with such rampant irregularities in OMFED, in which many officers and employees of the general manager’s dairy of the union are implicated. They demanded a high-level investigation. When Sambalpur Dairy Plant Manager was asked about this, he said, “I joined here less than two days ago and can say something about it.” On the other hand, the general manager of Samul, Saroj Sahu, is being harassed by Omfed after receiving a complaint. “Everything will become clear after the investigation,” said Mr. Sahu.
