Sambalpur: Minor Rape Case, 20 years imprisonment to the relative brother-in-law culprit
Sambalpur: Special POSCO Court Judge Abhilash Senapati has pronounced his verdict on a juvenile rape case that happened last year in the Gobindpur police station area of Sambalpur district. Vinoy Ranchit Ekka, a relative of the accused, was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison. In addition to this, he has ordered a fine of 1 lakh rupees, and 1 year of imprisonment for non-payment. Similarly, according to section 363, 7 years of imprisonment with a fine of 50 thousand and 6 months of imprisonment for non-payment of fine has been ordered.
Public Prosecutor Satya Panda handled the case. The District Legal Services Authority Secretary has also been directed to pay compensation to the victim. According to the information, the minor had gone to her uncle’s house to sleep on the night of June 21 last year. After everyone was asleep, Ranchit broke into the house and took the victim to a nearby jungle. After raping the minor girl all night and the next day, he left her in Jungal. The victim returned home and informed her family members. On June 22, the police filed a written complaint at Gobindpur police station.
