Sambalpur: Mother-in-law did not allow daughter-in-law to stay at home because she gave birth to a girl child
Sambalpur: A girl is called a jewel here. The Kanyadaan is considered auspicious. The government also considers girls as jewels and has come up with many schemes for their protection. In a civilized society, it is said that boys and girls are equal, there is no difference between them. But a woman was kicked out by her in-laws for giving birth to a girl child. Such a rare incident has happened in the Sambalpur region. Deepali Bagarti (20) married Pabitra Bagarti of Modipada Ambedkar Nagar last year.
After her marriage, her husband, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law used to torture her for dowry. Among these, she gave birth to a baby girl last April. As the girl gave birth to a child, her in-laws continued to torture her. Threatened to kill her and her daughter. As the torture became unbearable, she came to his father’s house for a few days. On May 31, he returned to his mother-in-law’s house with his father and mother. Then the in-laws did not welcome her in the house anymore. She and her parents were attacked. Finally, Deepali lodged a written complaint at the Sambalpur Women’s Police Station. The police have registered a case and started investigating the incident.
