Sambalpur: One Thousand crores to Vssut, Chief Secretary and 5T Secretaries reviewed the Samlei scheme
Sambalpur: The state’s premier technical institute, Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), has finally turned its attention to the government. The state government will spend Rs 1,000 crore to develop Vssut as a center of excellence in technical education in the framework of national level institutes like IITs, NITs. For this, a master plan will be prepared and presented before the Chief Minister within 15 days. Soon after approval, work will begin. The capacity of VSSUT, which currently has 5 thousand students, is aimed to be increased to 10 thousand in the future, Chief Administrative Secretary Suresh Mohapatra informed on Thursday. All eyes were on when the state government would turn its attention to Vssut after providing a grant of Rs 1500 crore to OTTR (CET). Finally, the high-level team of the government came and prepared the field for the development of Vssut.
On Thursday, Chief Secretary Mr. Suresh Mahapatra, Chief Minister’s Secretary (5T) VK Pandian, Skill Development and Technical Education Principal Secretary Hemant Sharma visited vssut Sambalpur first. There, they visited the academic block, classrooms, laboratories, visvesvaraya auditorium, pool and dormitory, Biju Patnaik e-learning center etc. The Chancellor discussed various problems, facilities and future plans with the faculty and students. Mr. Pandian visited the dining hall while the children were eating and interacted with the students in the classroom.
Later visited Grand Integrated Infrastructure Complex constructed at Bejamunda. He talked to the despondents, beggars and homeless living there and inquired about the facilities. He also emphasized on increasing the number and rehabilitating 500 people there.
Later visited Lady Lewis, the oldest girls’ high school in the city, which has evolved into 5T school. He had discussions with teachers, students and former students there. Finally reached Samleshwari temple and had darshan of mother Samleshwari. The overall development of the temple in Samlei plan is supervised. The chief secretary and five secretaries also held discussions with some officials and the public.
