Sambalpur: Order of Inquiry into the incident of doctor-pharmacist tussle, Pharmacists Association Demanded Justice

Sambalpur: The director of Vimsar has ordered an investigation into the doctor-pharmacist tussle at the Burla hospital medical center on Wednesday. The inquiry was ordered on the basis of the complaint of Tejaswini Rana, a female pharmacist working at Healing Center and the video of the commotion that went viral. After listening to both sides in the investigation, Vimsar Superintendent Prof. Lalmohan Nayak informed.

On the other hand, on the basis of the complaints of Tejaswini and Manas Ranjan Pati, pharmacists working in the medical center, a written complaint has been filed against the superintendent on behalf of Vimsar Burla Branch of Odisha Pharmacist Service Association. The union demanded that an inquiry committee should be formed immediately to investigate the incident as the concerned doctor misbehaved with the staff. On the other hand, the Odisha Pharmacists Association has also condemned the incident. Association president Diptiranjan Swain and secretary Sabyasachi Panda have warned in a press release that 65,000 pharmacy students of Odisha will go on strike if pharmacists are not given justice.

It is to be noted that a video of the altercation between pharmacist Tejaswini and SPM senior resident doctor Abhishek regarding the delay in dispensing medicines at the medical center in Burla OPD went viral on Wednesday. When patients were standing in line to take medicine at the OPD, the doctor reached there and asked him to give the medicine immediately. The staff member was busy giving the medicine to another patient and the medicine given to doctor was delayed. As a result, the doctor got angry and a war of words ensued between the two, which is evident from the video. In the video, the concerned doctor is heard calling hospital is for doctors while the female employee Tejaswini calls it hospital is for patients. On the other hand, there is a demand for opening a separate center for the OPD staff just as there is a medical center for the staff in the Indore division.
