Sambalpur: Outrage at Sambalpur School; Principal Allegedly Assaults Student for Writing ‘Jay Shri Ram’
Sambalpur: A heated situation arose at the Godbhaga Janata High School in Atabira block when the principal, Adan Suna, faced backlash from parents and locals for physically assaulting a 9th-grade student, Bedprakash Suna.
The incident happened when students were asked to form teams and give them names related to gods or famous personalities. Bedprakash named his team ‘Jay Shri Ram’. Angered by this, Principal Suna tore up the paper with the name written on it and physically assaulted Bedprakash.
Scared by the principal’s actions, Bedprakash went home and told his family about what happened. This led to his parents, people from Kalamati village, the village head (Sarpanch) Dr. Susama Sahu, former Zilla Parishad member Sanjukta Padhan, and members of the Bajrangdal group arriving at the school. They surrounded Principal Suna, protesting his behavior.
Realizing his mistake, Principal Suna apologized to Bedprakash’s parents. This helped calm down the angry crowd.
When asked about the incident later, Principal Suna explained that it was a misunderstanding that made him overreact to the student’s choice of team name.
