Sambalpur: Outrage over the death of a patient in Samaleswari Nursing Home
Burla: There has been outrage over the death of a patient at the Samaleswari Private Nursing Home in Burla. Family members complained that the nursing home authorities had extorted money from family members, claiming that the patient’s condition was serious. There was a lot of outrage around the nursing home. Burla police were called to the scene, convince people and also on the basis of family complaints
a case has been registered and the body was reportedly handed over to family members after autopsy. Burla police officer Kamal Kumar Panda said the death would be known when the autopsy report was received.
According to sources, Naresh Sahu, 55, of Beheramal area of Jharsuguda district, was admitted to Samaleswari Nursing Home in Burla on Feb 11 due to kidney problems. He was taken to the intensive care unit (ICU) for treatment. He was pronounced dead today. However, the family of the deceased had alleged that Naresh had died two days earlier. The family of the deceased has complained that by showing their family member is very serious they increase the icu charges. A doctor in the ICU allegedly beat up a relative of the deceased while family members went to interrogate him. On the other hand, the owner of the nursing home, Dr. Rabindra Pradhan, was questioned he denied all the allegations and said Naresh died today and the family has been notified since his death.
