Sambalpur: Parents in jail; The two neglected children were rescued to Bal Ashram
Sambalpur: Two children were lived with old grandparents while their parents were in jail for many years due to their involvement in Maoist activities. A few months later, grandfather died of old age. The elderly grandmother was then unable to care for two children. The two children were living in miserable conditions. The two children were rescued and taken to Bal Ashram on Friday at the behest of villagers, Anganwadi workers, local social workers and district child protection officials.
Raju(12) son and pinki(9) daughter of Sunyabasi Negi and Shanti Negi, of Jujumura Block Meghpal Panchayat Tamparsingha Village. Pankajini Bishwal, a local anganwadi worker and a villager from Meghpal appealed to the district child protection officer to ensure that the two children were properly cared for.
On Friday, DCPO Suchismita Patnaik sent two staff members. They went to Tamparsingh with Pankajini and came to Sambalpur with the two children and their grandmother. Here, the two children were met their father, who was in Mandal Jail, with the residents. The two children were released to the Bal Ashram in Phuljharan after a formal application was made to the DCPO office with their father’s permission.
