Sambalpur: Patients are lying down on the ground in the medicine department of Burla Vimsar
Burla Vimsar’s system has never changed. No matter how many buildings are built, due to faulty construction, they cannot be used properly. For two years now, the excuse of coping with the condition of the corona has further aggravated the plight of the non-corona patients. At present, the Vimsar Department of Medicine (MEDICAL) is a regular practice for critically ill patients kept on the ground.
Even the lives of critically ill patients are lying on the ground due to lack of beds. Vimsar, on the other hand, is in dire need of ICU beds, so doctors have been advised to take them to the ICU, but they cannot be taken. The Department of Medicine has a capacity of 300 patients, while more than one-and-a-half patients are being treated in Vimsar. As a result, patients are being kept on the ground due to lack of beds. In view of this lack of scanning, new medicine department building was built. Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person.
The new six-storey medicine department can accommodate about 450 patients. And by the end of March, the corona infection had begun. In this regard, the Sambalpur District Headquarters Hospital was shifted to Covid Hospital. On October 12, 2020, a new building for the Children’s Hospital in Vimsar was converted into a 100-bed Covid Hospital. The building for the pediatric ward was commissioned without fire safety under the pretext of a covid hospital. It was decided that the second Covid hospital would be set up after the second wave.
In April 2021, the 120-bed Covid Hospital was doubled to the 225-bed Covid Hospital in Vimsar. Vimsar’s new six-storey medical building has been converted into a 300-bed Covid Hospital since May 2021. Even in the third wave, the new six-storey medical department building is being rebuilt. As a result, in the busiest medical department, patients have to fall to the ground in the absence of beds. Non-covid poor patients and loved ones also have to make their own arrangements on the ground in the cold.
