Sambalpur: Pied Cuckoo(Chatak) bird seen in Hirakud Dam, rain will start soon
Sambalpur: Chatak bird (Jacobin Cuckoo or Pied Cuckoo) has flown from far away to Hirakud wetlands with the message of Monsoon. This bird of African origin is also found in Central Asia and the Himalayan region of India. However, just before the arrival of monsoon, they can be seen in the wetland area around Hirakud reservoir, says Ashish Pradhan, a bird expert. They have been flying in Hirakud and Debrigarh areas since mid-June this year. Most of the time, the head is raised and looking at the sky. Therefore, Mr. Pradhan expressed hope that the monsoon rains will come soon. Because they can go without drinking water for many days and wait for the rain to quench their thirst. When it rains, they quench their thirst by drinking the rainwater that falls directly from the sky. It is worth noting that these birds go to the nests of small birds like bubblers and drop their eggs on the ground and lay eggs there themselves. The little bird incubates the egg and gives birth to a baby bird.
