- Not Getting the widow allowance and the benefits of Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme
- Rice in ration card not available for three children
Maneshwar: Mohan Mahakur (29), husband of Reema Mahakur (26) living in Gulundipali area under Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation, was suffering from kidney disease. He passed away less than a month and a half ago. During his life, Mohan, who lived in a house in tin hut, ran to the government office many times to get a house in the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme.
After several days of applying, he has not been able to find a house in the housing scheme. Not only that, he drew the attention of government officials several times to get rice for his 3 children in the ration card. Even that could not be done due to the government officials. After Mohan’s death, his family is struggling for all this things.
Mohan’s parents are now old and mother’s one eye is not well. His father is also a tuberculosis patient. Mohan, have to take care of his three children, Raja (6), Raju (4) and daughter Bijuni (3) along with his his elderly parents. The ration card received from the government does not provide rice for three children. As a result, the amount of rice available for them is falling short. Rima said, “we have to be hungry sometimes.” She said, “Whenever the neighbors give rice and pulses, they cook it and feed it to the child.” There is no place to keep the head in tin hut house. Reema complained that even after many days of applying for a house in the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme, she did not get it. Rima has appealed to the administration to provide rice for the child and widow allowance in the ration card soon.
