Sambalpur: Poison Sold in the name of Food in National PalliShree Mela, Food Safety Department’s Raid
Sambalpur: A raid was conducted today by the Food Safety Department of the Metropolitan Corporation when poison was being sold in the name of food at the Palishree Mela in the P.H.D Ground. Liquid nitrogen used in smoke biscuits is destroyed during this process. Similarly, artificial colors and stale foods mixed in food have also been destroyed. At the government level, it should be ensured that the people who come to such fairs can be provided with healthy food. There is a general opinion that there is a need to make strict rules during the distribution of food stalls at the fair.
Liquid nitrogen is destroyed
According to the information, some food stalls in Pallishree Mela were raided by the Metropolitan Food Safety Department today. Food Safety Officer Sandeep Gobhav informed that liquid nitrogen gas used during the sale of smoke biscuits was used in 2/3 of the stalls at the fair was destroyed. Liquid nitrogen is harmful to health. The use of this in food items has been banned, the manufacturer said. Similarly, it has been reported that 5 kg of stale food with artificial color has also been destroyed in some other stalls. However, in Sambalpur city, there are allegations of fake sweets being sold during various festivals, while the food department is removing stale food and artificial colors from the department. Many times there are allegations of stale bread and other stale food items being sold in the market. In such a situation, there is a need for the administration to take steps from the beginning so that people can get healthy food during the fair festival, said the intellectual.
