Sambalpur: Post-Sitalsasthi Festival Cleanliness Campaign by SMC Fails, Nose Bursting with Smell
Sambalpur: The Sitalsasthi festival has ended, leaving heaps of garbage everywhere. The Sambalpur Municipal Corporation’s (SMC) cleanliness campaign has failed once again. This has sparked widespread public outrage. Despite millions of rupees spent on cleanliness, the city’s current state is alarming, sparking public debate. With major roads littered with waste, citizens are calling on the SMC to take immediate action.
During the Sitalsasthi festival, the city experienced a massive influx of visitors, with numerous stalls set up and food and water distributed. Many organizations also offer services with a sense of dedication. Following the festival, the municipal corporation was responsible for cleaning up the city. There was an expectation that all of the garbage would be removed within a day or two. However, two days after the festival, garbage is still visible throughout the city. People have complained that waste on the roads is blown onto pedestrians by passing vehicles, resulting in an unsanitary environment.
