Sambalpur: Power Station of Hirakud dam in Burla will be closed for 1 week from December 7 to 15
Sambalpur: According to an important decision, the first power station of Hirakud dam in Burla will be closed from December 7 to 15. The portion from the source of the power channel to the siphon head regulator at eighteen thousand will be repaired next May-June, so the canal will now be dry. Dry it from the canal and measure it. An estimate will be made regarding which part needs to be repaired and how much it will cost. Therefore, the turbines of the power center will be closed for 7 days and the canal will be dried. Due to this, power generation will be stopped for weeks. At this time, electricity distribution and transmission companies have been warned to make alternative arrangements in advance.
- Power generation will be shut down
- Water supply will be affected
Debasish Mishra, Head of Burla Shakti Kendra under Odisha Water Power Corporation (OHPC) has sent his office letter number 54817 (7) 25.11.2022 in this regard to Northern Revenue Commissioner, Zillapal, Police DIG and SP have been informed and requested to take advance arrangements.
OPGC has warned Additional Chief Engineer of Public Health Department, MCL Authority and Divisional Railway Manager to take advance measures as power generation and some water supply systems will also be affected if the power channel is closed.
After generating electricity in the first power station of Hirakuda, the water coming out is taken to Chipilima in this power channel and electricity is generated again in the second power station there. Therefore, if the power channel is dry for weeks, the power generation in the second power station will also be affected. It is worth mentioning that earlier in 1990 the power channel was also dried up.
