Sambalpur: Preparation of Sambalpur Mahotsav started
Sambalpur: The progress of various committees in the Preparation meeting of Sambalpur Mahotsav has been reviewed today. Under the chairmanship of educationist Bhakti Prasad Nanda, in today’s meeting Sambalpur Mahotsav will be held for 7 days from February 8 to 14 at Birsa Maidan, P.H.D. Field. Tribal, folk and contemporary dance troupes from West Bengal and outside the state will participate in this mega event of art and culture. The first day of the festival will be performed on the 8th of February at Maa Samlei’s shrine. On that day, the cultural procession will come up to the Fatak OverBridge to Birsa Maidan, P.H.D field. The stalls will be inaugurated on that day.
This time Sambalpuri sarees and handicraft markets of different states of the country will be held. There will be ‘Nuaswad Sambalpuri’ food stalls with various foods. About two hundred stalls have been arranged to sell various products prepared by the day laborers of the area. The author-writer of Sambalpuri books has been arranged to meet the favorite readers. The festival is scheduled to be inaugurated in the evening before Manch Puja. There will be a Sambalpuri fashion show with dance performances. This time, the fashion of tribal clothing will be updated. Apart from this, there will be a special dress code for married women and children. National dances Bhangra, Bihu, Rajasthani, and Labani, along with traditional dances will also be performed.
By consent, Padmashree Jitendra Haripal, Chairman of the Salutation Committee, Padmashree Dr. Krishna Patel has been appointed as the chairperson of the management committee, Ashok Satpathy as the chairperson of the coordination committee, retired administrator Parvati Seth as the chairperson of the steering committee, Hiralal Behera as the chairperson of the steering committee. Today, the announcement committee joined and started practicing under the supervision of host Ramashisha Tripathi, lecturer Tusar Tanjan Barik, and Anjan Pradhan to perform innovatively on the stage. Durga Das gave details about the various dance troupes. Singer Ravindra Panda and singer Rajkumar Jal assisted in the selection of other singers.
