Sambalpur: Process of relocating the new SMC office to the new building aims to be fully operational from today to June
Sambalpur: The construction of the main structure of the new building of the Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation at Durgapali has been completed. The exterior has been painted, and in some parts ordinary tables, chairs, and other furniture have been put.
Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation Commissioner Pradeep Sahu said the process of relocating the various non-essential documents and departments in the old metropolitan office to those new offices would start from Friday. So far the building has been completed and the exterior and interior paint work has been completed. From now on, there are plans to relocate the paperwork from the old office to the new building and to relocate some of the sections unofficially from April. Mr Sahu said the public works department would already be operating in the old building.
However, there is still work to be done on the interior beautification of the building, furniture making, wall construction, lighting, gardening and so on. The tender will be called on the 26th of this month. All work is expected to be completed by May and by June, both the SMMC and SDA offices will be fully operational in the new building, said Commissioner Sahu. Construction of the road connecting the building has begun. Now the ground is being built. It will then be concreted with a guard wall. As the construction of the main building is completed, it can be inaugurated at any time if the government wants, he said. It is worth noting that the building is being constructed at a cost of around Rs 18 crore and designed of the Hirakud Dam. The multi-storey building will be relocated to the Metropolitan Corporation (SMC) and the Sambalpur Development Authority (SDA) office.
