Sambalpur: Rain Impact in Sambalpur, People’s lives affected, 361.8 mm of rain in Jujumura
Sambalpur: Life has been affected due to heavy rains in Sambalpur district. After the red warning was issued by SRC yesterday for Sambalpur district, all educational institutions were declared closed after 10 am. On the other hand, due to the rains, bridges were washed away in many places in the district, while the doors of many people’s houses were not broken.
In Sambalpur district, there was heavy rain due to the prevailing winds. The maximum rainfall of 361.8 mm was recorded at Jujumura in the district. Similarly, 348.0 mm in Redhakhol, 51.0 mm in Dhankuada, 22.4 mm in Rengali, 64.8 mm in Maneswar, 55.2 mm in Kuchinda, 112.6 mm in Jamankira, 31.0 mm in Bamra and 140.0 mm in Naktideul. Flooding in Malti Jor affected the Maltigunderpur bridge on the Sambalpur-Sonpur road. As a result, communication between Sambalpur and Sonepur was cut off. The worship of Maneshwar Mandhata Baba’s temple was interrupted due to the flood waters. There was about 3 feet of water on the temple premises.
The newly constructed culvert approach road connecting Kandpada to Kansar Rd road under Jujumura block has been washed away. Similarly, the construction of the Lipinda Khaliad bridge, which was completed in less than a month, has washed away the culverts of the newly constructed Baham-Kushnapuri road. The houses of 26 people in this block area were partially destroyed while the wall of Jujumura High School was also damaged. The flood water of Champali River in Naktideul is flowing over the bridge. Charmal-Shunzhal bridge in Redhakhol block has been washed away. Similarly, water flowed on the Thanamunda bridge in Lugagarh. There is a power cut in Pandkimal High School. In Sambalpur Mahanagar Area, Kacheri, Hospital Road, Patneswari temple premises have broken large trees.
