Sambalpur: RDC is outraged at the sight of the rubbish in SMC area
Six years after the announcement of the Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation, the city’s sanitation system has not improved. The city’s sanitation system has been privatized to improve sanitation. Crores of rupees are being spent on this. However, the metropolitan corporation has failed to provide a healthy environment for the people. More than half of the sanitation system assigned in the hands of private companies. Instead of cleaning the road private sectors are busy in eating money. Garbage, sewage in the streets, and rubbish in the streets have left many residents stranded. RDC Suresh Chandra Dalai, who visited the ward today, is upset over the city’s sanitation system.
Uttaranchal Revenue Commission Dr. Dalei visited various wards under the Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation on Friday and inspected the sanitation system. Today, RDC visited Sakhipada-St Joseph School Area, Badabazar, Ainthapali, Ph.D. Ground, Shantinagar, Khetrajpur, Jagannath Colony, SRIT Colony Ward. He was annoyed to see garbage in various wards. The concerned ward officers were summoned and severely reprimanded and asked to pay attention so that it doesn’t happen again. The sanitation system of the 41-ward Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation is vested in both the SMC and the contractor. Of the 41 wards, the contractor has 31 wards and the SMC has 10 wards. One and a half crore rupees are being spent every month on sanitation and waste cleaning. However, there are always allegations of rubbish lying around the corner. Garbage trucks, JCB, Tata ACE, and other battery vehicles are used to carry garbage. In addition, door-to-door cleaning staff is collecting garbage. But nowhere in the city has the cleanliness of the Rs 1.5 crore per month sanitation system been proven.
After repeated allegations in this regard, RDC visited the ward today. During his visit to the ward, he was disturbed by the city’s sanitation and waste management and urged the ward officials. However, it is clear today that the SMC has no control over the contractors involved in the cleaning work.
